We will not pay any benefits where we have agreed with you a special term in respect of your cover that specifically excludes the event or condition leading to the claim. Any such special terms will appear on your policy schedule.

The Benefit Amount will be paid to the Policyowner. In the event the Policyowner dies, the Benefit Amount will be paid to the Policyowner's nominated beneficiary. You can fill out a beneficiary nomination form and return it to us.
If no beneficiary has been nominated the Benefit Amount will be paid to the legal representative or any other person we are permitted to pay under the Life Insurance Act 1995.
If you have an existing Safeway Life Insurance policy, Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) Insurance is an optional extra that you can purchase within your existing life insurance cover. It can pay you a lump sum if you suffer an injury or illness that leaves you permanently disabled. This money can be used to pay for medical expenses, fund permanent lifestyle changes, or cover debts.
Any payment of the Safeway Total and Permanent Disability Insurance benefit will reduce (or in some instances end) the Safeway Life Insurance Benefit Amount which remains on your Policy.
We'll send you a renewal notice up to 30 days before your policy anniversary. Your policy will then automatically renew, using your agreed payment method on file, unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Make sure you review the notice, as premiums may have changed from the previous year. If you're happy with your renewal details, you don't need to do anything.

Yes. To help your level of insurance keep up with the cost of living, the Benefit Amounts for Safeway Life Insurance and optional Safeway Total and Permanent Disability Insurance (if applicable) will automatically increase by 5% on each Policy Anniversary and will therefore increase your premium.
You may decline the automatic increase by giving us a call on 1300 954 290. Even if you choose not to accept an automatic increase in any given year, the automatic increase will be applied in the following year unless you again choose to decline it.

Yes. Your life insurance premium is calculated on a “stepped basis” where premiums are recalculated each year based on your increase in age. This means your premium will increase each year as you get older to reflect your increased insurance risk.
In addition, Safeway Life insurance includes an automatic increase benefit to ensure your policy keeps up with the rising cost of living. Your benefit amount will increase by 5% and your premium will be adjusted accordingly. You can opt-out of these automatic increases by contacting us on 1300 954 290.
Safeway may, from time to time, review its premium base rates. Base rates are the starting point for calculating premiums. Each customers personal risk circumstances such as gender, health and lifestyles factors are added on top of the base premium. Base premiums can be influenced by factors impacting the individual insurer or the industry as a whole such as changing mortality rates, inflation or interest rates, which can affect the cost of providing insurance. Insurers may increase the base rates to maintain their ability to cover future claims but only if we change the premium rate applying to all (or the same group of) Safeway Life Insurance Policyowners. Insurers may also decrease their insurance premiums in some circumstance where it's possible to do so.
Premium changes happen on the next anniversary date of your insurance policy. We’ll get in touch with you before your policy anniversary to let you know your new premium for the following year.

Your premium is level which means it is designed to not change every year unless you apply to change your cover.
Your premium will decrease by 5% every continuous 5 years that you hold your Policy. For example, if you commence cover with a premium of $50.00 per fortnight, after your 5th Policy Anniversary, the premium will reduce to $47.50 per fortnight, and after your 10th Policy Anniversary the premium will reduce to $45.13 (rounded to the nearest cent).

The 10% off your in-store shop at Woolworths Supermarkets offer (the Offer) applies to active Safeway Life insurance policyholders who have an active registered Everyday Rewards Card linked to their active Safeway Life insurance policy.
When can I redeem this Offer?
The offer period commences at 12:01am (AEST/AEDT) on the first day of every calendar month and ends at 11:59pm (AEST/AEDT) on the last day of that same calendar month. Customers can only redeem the Offer once during each offer period regardless of the number of Safeway Life insurance policies or other eligible Everyday Insurance or Everyday Mobile from Woolworths products they hold.
This Offer is limited to a maximum saving of $50 (i.e. 10% off a $500 in-store grocery shop) on a single Woolworths Supermarkets in-store transaction each calendar month.
